Connection of an electricity producer

Once the connection has been completed and a new electricity producer network contract has been signed, ensuring safety and accurate data on the quantities produced, a contract to sell the produced electricity can be signed with an electricity seller.

Elektrilevi's map of available capacities gives an overview of the unused capacity of medium-voltage power lines.

The map is based on calculations of medium-voltage lines and shows which lines do not need costly distribution network works to create a new connection with the displayed capacity. The map only shows electricity lines with at least 200 kW of available capacity.

A lack of transmission capacity in the distribution and/or transmission network does not mean that new electricity producers cannot be connected to the grid. This mostly means that the integration of additional production capacity will require additional grid reinforcement works in the distribution and/or transmission network, or changes to the capacity of the distribution network's connections to the transmission network.

It is possible to avoid reinforcement work of Elering's transmission network by connecting as a micro-producer (up to 15 kW).

Reinforcements of the distribution and transmission networks can also be avoided if all the electricity produced is used locally and not transmitted to the grid. Even when consuming all the electricity locally, an electricity producer connection request must still be submitted with the capacity to be transmitted to the grid as 0 kW.

Only direct proprietary damage is compensated. Loss of revenue is not subject to compensation.

The interruption starts the moment Elektrilevi becomes aware of it and ends when the electricity supply has been restored to the place of consumption.

According to the standard terms of Elektrilevi's network contract (low voltage up to 63 A, low voltage over 63 A, and medium voltage), calculation of the duration of the interruption caused by failure starts when the network operator became aware or should have become aware of the interruption in their network and ends when the electricity supply at the connection point of the buyer's place of consumption is restored.

Network charges will be reduced in the event of a breach of the electricity supply security requirements.

According to the standard terms of Elektrilevi's network contract (low voltage up to 63 A, low voltage over 63 A and medium voltage), the network operator will reduce the network charges of the buyer for the relevant calendar month in case of a breach of the electricity supply security requirements, in accordance with the procedure and to the extent laid down in the quality requirements regulation.
