Production records of Elektrilevi’s electricity grid in 2023

06.02.2024

In 2023, a record number of 5,363 new electricity producers joined the grid. In total, there are 20,925 electricity producers on Elektrilevi's grid, 11,822 of which are micro-producers. Grid-connected electricity production capacity is 830.2 MW.

"While the boom in connection applications from new producers has now subsided, large-scale connection of producers to Elektrilevi's grid took place in 2023. Last year, we connected the largest number of producers in recent years, and in the summer of 2023, we also set a production record when the amount of electricity supplied by electricity producers to the grid exceeded 500 MW for the first time on June 9. Altogether, nearly a third of the electricity consumed by Elektrilevi's customers was produced on Elektrilevi's grid that day," noted Mihkel Härm, CEO of Elektrilevi.

In 2023, electricity producers on Elektrilevi’s network supplied 813 GWh of electricity to the grid, which is 110 GWh (16%) more than in the previous year. This included 80.9 GWh of electricity supplied by micro-producers in 2023, which is 37 GWh (84%) more than in 2022.

The amount of solar electricity supplied to the grid increased by 158 GWh, or 32%, in 2023 (from 493 GWh to 651 GWh).
